About ASA Now and Our Mission

ASA Now is at the heart of the Arizona Missing Child Taskforce, a collective effort bringing together Missing In America Network, ASA Now, and The Starbright Foundation. We provide crucial support in the search for missing children and advocate for stronger laws and resources to protect our most vulnerable.

We help create better outcomes for missing, exploited, and trafficked children and provide training for caregivers and youth on Sex Trafficking - Navigating Safety and Mental Wellness.

Our mission is to empower communities to act by enhancing awareness, providing resources, and advocating for legislative change.

Why ASA Now Became Involved with Missing Children

ASA Now was co-founded in 2016 by three foster-adoptive mothers who were deeply committed to supporting vulnerable children and families. However, in 2023, a heartbreaking event led me, Anika Robinson, as the President of ASA Now, to take further action. Two teen girls—Sitlalli Avelar and Kamryn Meyers—went missing after running away from a Mesa group home. Tragically, their bodies were found weeks later, not far from the group home, but by that time, the community had not been notified, and we were unable to assist in their search. This lack of awareness and involvement from the community motivated me to act.

In their memory, I advocated for and successfully passed HB2651 in 2023 and HB2479 in 2024, laws aimed at better protecting vulnerable children. ASA Now also partnered with the Missing In America Network and The Starbright Foundation in 2024 to unite efforts and work together to locate missing children, support their families, and raise awareness about child trafficking and exploitation.
